The program will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Scott House, 4 Sunset Lane. Tom McManus, Chair of the Ridgefield Town Tree Committee, will lead the informal conversation, which focuses on sharing knowledge of Ridgefield&rsquo;s past and is broadcast live on the Ridgefield Historical Society&rsquo;s Facebook page for those who can&rsquo;t attend in person. The discussion will explore the history and significance of some of Ridgefield&rsquo;s notable and historic trees; the role trees have played in shaping the town&rsquo;s landscape, character, and sense of place; efforts to identify, protect, and care for important trees; and the ways trees connect natural history, community memory, and historic preservation. Tom will also discuss the work of the Ridgefield Tree Committee and why the stewardship of historic trees remains important today. Those with photographs, documents, memories, or stories related to notable trees in Ridgefield are encouraged to bring them for show and tell. All are welcome to this free gathering.
