Our road bike rides offer an inclusive and informative environment for riders to feel comfortable exploring the roads of Whatcom County. We're here to adventure together, work through challenges, and celebrate each and every one of us for taking a chance to set out on an adventure together. Event Details:Join us on September 20th for a ride from Bellingham to Bow/Edison! We will take the back roads around Lake Samish from Bellingham to the quaint downtown of Edison. We’ll have a few good climbs and a lot of gorgeous and rural riding, leading us to the heart of Edison with a lot of tasty options for those who want to get a treat. We’ll refuel, before riding a parallel route home, with the satisfaction of descending every hill we climbed. What to Expect:This intermediate-advanced ride will be around 42 miles round trip and roughly 2100 ft of elevation gain, making it perfect for those who are ready to take on more mileage and significant hill climbs. We’ll keep a steady pace with regular breaks. Our Ride Leaders will be there to help you along the way! Logistics:

Meeting Time: 9:00 am at Fairhaven Stone's Throw Brewery

Return Time: Approximately 5:00 pm

Total Distance: 42 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: 2100 feet (plus 300 feet for the bonus loop)

Terrain: Steady hill climbs punctuated throughout the route alongside stretches of relatively flat countryside.

Ride Difficulty: Intermediate-Advanced

What to Bring:Participants should come prepared with a working bike, helmet, water, food, and clothing appropriate for the weather. Personal Preparation: Trip leaders will be spread out throughout the group to make sure everyone stays on route and is doing well. We recommend checking out your bike to make sure things seem to be in good working order before showing up for the ride, and we can help you with some of those issues on the morning of the event – if they aren’t too serious. If you don’t ride regularly, it may be wise to hop on your bike a bit beforehand so that you feel more comfortable. Contact Us:If you have any comments or questions, need assistance with gear, or anything else, please don’t hesitate to contact us at elena@letsshiftgears.com.
