On August 26, 2026, Nepal was struck by a catastrophic disaster after a massive rock-and-ice avalanche near the Nepal&ndash;China border triggered devastating floods and debris flows through the Himalayan valleys. The disaster swept away homes, roads, bridges, vehicles, and critical infrastructure, leaving communities devastated. According to the latest figures from Nepal&rsquo;s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), more than 1,400 people have lost their lives, more than 6,000 remain missing, and more than 13,700 people have been rescued. Search and recovery operations are still continuing. As a trusted local 501(C) (3) nonprofit, Nepal Center of North Carolina (NCNC) is organizing a Charity 5K Run/Walk for Nepal to support emergency relief and recovery efforts. Whether you are a seasoned runner, a casual walker, a family with children, or simply someone who wants to stand with Nepal &mdash; your participation matters. Every step is a message of solidarity.
