We are fundraising to skate!  In order to participate in various tournaments across the world, we need funds to pay for registration fees and support our skaters' travel. You're not just supporting skaters, you're helping us find community and share the SALAAM magic across the derbyverse. Who is SALAAM Roller Derby? We are a diverse group of skaters from the SWANA regions of the world (and beyond), representing many nations, ethnicities, religions, and traditions. We come together unencumbered by colonial borders. What we share is connection to lands, languages, cultures, and religions, as well as struggles against racism and Islamophobia in the diaspora. For some of us, this connection is strong than any connection to a more conventional roller derby term could ever be. Our solidarity is not just out of choice, but out of survival. It signals safety, kinship, and the knowledge that we can be welcomed and process our daily struggles. To joke about our food and language, to find comfort in collective similarities and differences, is to know the hospitality of home.
