Kittitas County has more than 300 documented bird species. Spend a day finding them with two local experts.

Deb Essman has been one of the county's top birders for 37 years. She has led hundreds of field trips and taught wildlife classes at Ellensburg's 5th Grade Camp for over 30 years, and she brings humor and deep knowledge. Martha Wyckoff loves learning bird songs and calls. She and her husband, Jerry Tone, restore forest, prairie, and creek habitat, and the birds have followed.

Details: For you and 3 of your friends. You'll visit private and public sites, including the Teanaway Community Forest where extensive restoration efforts have benefited bird populations. Our very own educator and bird enthusiast Tori Wood will round out the team! Lunch and extra binoculars are provided. You'll meet in the Cle Elum area on a date arranged with Deb and Martha. Hint: Spring is an ideal time!

Join the Mid-Columbia Fisheries' team for a private snorkel with our native fish. This experience will be for you and up to three of your besties and will include light gourmet snacks (possibly fish themed!). Could also be an overnight! Equipment provided if needed. Experience will be scheduled during the summer or early fall of 2027.

A private tour for you and up to four of your besties with MCF Project Manager Mike Bosko! Spend the day exploring restoration work in the Teanaway, starting with a restoration site on the North Fork Teanaway River and then visiting one of its tributaries to see and discuss low-tech, process-based restoration designed to improve stream and floodplain function and encourage beaver to return. If we're lucky, we may even get to visit an active beaver complex.

Mike is a lifelong naturalist and stream ecologist with a particular passion for streams, beaver, and low-tech restoration. He'll share what MCF is doing, why we're doing it, and what we're learning along the way.

Adopt A Classroom - Maintain an existing salmon tank, conduct classroom lessons, and support curricula and teacher training. Naming rights and thanks in the classroom!

Adopt A Tank (New) - Tanks and set up typically cost upwards of $2500. Fund a brand-new classroom salmon tank and all the gear so a classroom can raise the next generation of salmon! The tank will be named in your honor with a placard and you will receive a framed certificate with a picture of the tank in the classroom and be invited to one field trip!

Support guided community salmon walks and interpretation.

Fund tools, gloves, and snacks for volunteer stewardship events.

Allow us to transport students to salmon release and restoration sites. Many of our schools could not participate otherwise!
