In this special presentation for America&rsquo;s 250th, fashion historian Leslie Arendt explores how changes in technology, economics, politics, and social customs shaped the way American women dressed in 1776. The program features a mannequin display of historically accurate, hand-sewn clothing representing women of the lower, middling, and upper classes. See reconstructed daywear, formal wear, caps, hats, accessories, and undergarments up close while learning how fashion reflected both daily life and a changing nation. We are open to the general public. Our venue is fully accessible with a ramp entrance. Cancellations must be requested at least three days prior to the event. No refunds will be given after that date.
