About the SpeakerDavid Rhodes McCallister was born in Miami and is a sixth-generation Floridian through his paternal line.&nbsp; &nbsp; He was educated at St. Mark&rsquo;s School, Southborough, MA and Winchester College, England. &nbsp;He earned his B.A. degree from Emory University in History and his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. &nbsp; Cmdr. McCallister has been a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (&ldquo;SCV&rdquo;) since 2009, and has documented Confederate patriot family members from Florida. He entered the SCV on the service of Hugh MCallister, Co. C 31st GA Infantry. &nbsp; The McCallisters trace their lineage to their ancient Scots ancestors, and&nbsp;is a&nbsp;sept&nbsp;of Clan Donald. Cmdr. McCallister appreciates his Clan heritage. &nbsp;When he lived in Atlanta, he was Standard Bearer for Clan Donald at the Stone Mountain Games, an officer of the St. Andrew&#39;s Society of Atlanta, and the Robert Burns Club of Atlanta and earn earlier years as an active Scottish Country dancing and was a tenor drummer for the competition pipe and drum band, the Tampa Bay Pipe and Drums. He is currently a member of the Scottish American Military Society, Post 1952 and the St. Andrews Society. &nbsp; He advocated for a position and was appointed to the Hillsborough County Diversity Advisory County representing Northern and Southern Europeans.&nbsp; He has served as Commander of the Judah P. Benjamin Camp #2210 since its founding, held Florida Division office as Judge Advocate, and served on the National Henry Wirz Committee and Legal Review Committee. &nbsp;He has been recognized for his service to the Sons of Confederate Veterans on the Division and National Level with various awards and commendations including: &nbsp;Florida Division Gov. John Milton Award; &nbsp;SCV Distinguished Service Medal, SCV Meritorious Service Medal, the SCV Heritage Defense Medal and the SCV Commendation Medal. &nbsp;He is also a winner of the SCV National Oratory Contest. &nbsp;He has been recognized for his service to the United Daughters of the Confederacy with the Stonewall Jackson Award. &nbsp;He also has served the United Daughters of the Confederacy and was awarded the Stonewall Jackson Award.
