In homage to the central European heritage of the Riedel family in Austria and Bohemia, the Horn Decanter was inspired by the famous post horn, the symbol of the Austrian postal system. In the 18th and 19th centuries, horse-drawn carriages were used across Europe to deliver the post in the various cities. When they arrived, the postmen would blow the horns to let people know they were there. Well-known musicians of the time such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart used the horn in their music. The Austrian composer was born in 1756, the same year that the Riedel company was founded. Wine lovers and musicians alike can today hear the horn ringing out once again by blowing into the smaller of the two openings of the Horn Decanter. Hand-made decanter, crystal glass. WARNING: Bottle Cleaner pearls are not suitable for this decanter!

Cave Tour and Tasting for 4 people. You will travel back in time on a tour of this historic Napa property. Your host will walk you through their Calistoga vineyard and estate, continuing into their Howard Backen-designed, cutting-edge winery. Take in the sights while seated at a private table in one of their gorgeous tasting spaces. Enjoy a flight of their current release Napa Valley wines paired with a series of seasonal delicacies that have been artfully created by their culinary team to showcase their wines' versatility.

Our much-loved proprietary red wine, "Right Bank" is made of 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot. Aged 18 months in 40% new French oak. Only 600 cases of this wine were made.

Tyson Snow has been selected and featured as a finalist for the “Cover Art Competition” in the American Artist Magazine (drawing issue). He was also featured in the American Art Collector Magazine, as well as other publications and newspapers. Tyson’s work had previously consisted of black and white drawings, created in reverse with a white pencil over a black substrate. Owing to a compelling desire to create in different mediums, Snow began sculpting in clay, casting in bronze and painting in oils. His ability has allowed him to find early successes in both of those mediums.

Following the Bordeaux tradition of extended maceration, the wine remained with its skins for another two weeks to soften the young tannins. We then drained the wine, pressed the skins and moved the Cabernet into our caves where it was aged in oak barrels. (30% of the barrels are new.) During its first Winter, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation to lower its acidity and add richness. After many tastings in the Spring of 2022, we blended 5.5% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot with the Cabernet to increase the wine’s depth and length. We continued to barrel-age the wine until it was bottled in August 2022.

Drinkability
Fruit forward, lively and young, the 2020 Cabernet opens with complex fruit aromas of blackberries, cassis and raspberries; those aromas are enriched by fresh mint, India ink and sweet vanilla bean notes giving the wine richness and depth. On the palate, it has a bright entry and soft mid-palate with flavors of Picholine olives, herbes de Provence and steak tartare. Long and lingering on the palate, it has a toasted bread and dark chocolate finish. At five years of age, the 2020 seems young in comparison to its predecessors, but (like all of our Cabernets) it has the structure and richness to age well for at least fifteen more years.

The Empress Theatre interior is stunningly beautiful, as it opens up like a mystical cavern from the narrow, curving entrance halls.  The Art Deco plaster work on the walls, and sweeping up and across the ceiling turn the 400-seat theatre into the grand lady that the Empress is.

I wanted to capture the Empress interior in my painting, and to do so, I placed my design from left to right, bottom to top.  I used a long narrow canvas to capture the theatre’s height and strong color contrasts to show the beauty of the paint treatment and lighting on the ceiling’s plasterwork that glows against the dark theatre walls.
