Shooting Star School at Lyons Elementary School Mondays &amp; Thursdays | 3:00&ndash;4:30 PM (meet after the bell) September 10 &ndash; November 19Final Performance November 19 or 20 (TBD) No classes the week of October 19 Registration: $345 | Scholarships Available We are thrilled your daughter will be participating in Shooting Star School! &nbsp; Shooting Star School is a confidence-building, social-emotional learning program for girls that uses music, movement, storytelling, performance, and play to help girls discover their voices and SHINE! from the inside out. Girls learn to quiet the Gremlin voice that says, &ldquo;I can&rsquo;t!&rdquo; and strengthen the Wise Owl voice that says, &ldquo;I can!&rdquo; A few important details as we get ready to launch! We will not be producing the full JOY &amp; The Shooting Stars musical this fall, but we are planning a special performance for family and friends at the conclusion of the program, most likely the evening of Thursday, November 19 or Friday, November 20. More details will follow. Due to construction and limited space at LES this fall, Shooting Star School will be held in the large activity room at Lyons Community Church. The church is located at the far end of the LES parking lot. We will meet students in the LES front hall after the dismissal bell and walk to the church together. Thanks to generous funding from LEAF&nbsp;and the Lyons Community Foundation, we are able to keep tuition lower. Scholarships are also available. Please request one if it would help make participation possible for your family. LEAF is also supporting a family education evening during the program. This gathering will give parents and caregivers an opportunity to learn more about what the girls are learning in Shooting Star School and become familiar with some of the language and tools they can use at home. We are awaiting news on additional grant funding that would allow us to offer each student at least one private coaching session, providing individualized support based on each girl&rsquo;s unique needs and goals. We are also working to recruit two high school students to serve as &ldquo;Star Guides&rdquo;&mdash;near-peer mentors and role models who will support and encourage the girls throughout the program. Shooting Star School is a program of the Center for Women &amp; Girls, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Molly Williams, who will serve as Lead Teacher. During registration, you will have the option to make a tax-deductible donation to the Center for Women &amp; Girls. Any additional financial support is greatly appreciated. While grant funding and registration fees cover a significant portion of the cost of Shooting Star School, they do not cover the full cost of developing and delivering the program, including the many behind-the-scenes hours that make Shooting Star School possible. A note about Zeffy: Zeffy is the platform we use for program registration and fundraising because it does not charge credit-card processing fees to nonprofits. During checkout, Zeffy automatically includes a contribution to support its platform. &nbsp;If you do not wish to contribute to Zeffy, simply change the amount to $0.&nbsp;This contribution goes to Zeffy, not the Center for Women &amp; Girls, and is completely optional.
