Taking place at Welcome to Chinatown, this evening will explore how food shapes identity, belonging, culture, and politics. The program will begin with a moderated conversation with Fabio, followed by an open dialogue with attendees inspired by themes and chapters from the book. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a tasting experience designed to complement the discussion and bring the book&#39;s ideas to life through food and drink. About Fabio Parasecoli: Fabio Parasecoli is Professor of Food Studies in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at NYU Steinhardt. His work explores the cultural politics of food across media, design, heritage, and international affairs. He is the author of numerous books, including Gastronativism: Food, Identity, Politics (2022), which won the 2023 Gourmand World Cookbook Award and was a James Beard Foundation nominee in Food Issues and Advocacy. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, National Geographic, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, and MIT Technology Review, among others. About Welcome to Chinatown: Welcome to Chinatown is a grassroots initiative founded in March 2020 to support Manhattan&#39;s Chinatown small businesses.
