Soul Studio for Youth (10-15)

Young artists (ages 10-15) will explore a variety of 2D mediums, including charcoal, pencil, acrylic paint, oil pastels, and collage using tissue paper and found scraps. We&rsquo;ll experiment with layering and combining materials to create mixed media pieces while learning how different supplies behave and interact.&nbsp; This workshop focuses on process over product &mdash; encouraging creativity, confidence, and problem-solving rather than perfection. There are no grades or formal critiques, just supportive guidance and space to explore. We celebrate &ldquo;mistakes&rdquo; as part of the creative process, and while things may get a little messy, all materials are age-appropriate and thoughtfully facilitated. Please wear clothing suitable for art-making. Let by local artist Kristin Frances About Kristin:Kristin started painting when she was 3 or 4 years old. By the time she reached high school, she dreamed of attending art school and becoming a professional artist. While in school, she took nearly every art class available, with instruction in painting, drawing, welding, carving, hand-built and hand-thrown pottery, printmaking, metal etching, and more. Setting her sights on art school after graduation, she received a 5 out of 5 on her portfolio review.And then she started to believe the voices in her head that said she couldn&rsquo;t do it.After a very long pause, Kristin has embraced her creative gifts and now loves to create space for others to do the same &mdash; where fun, exploration, and imperfection are not just allowed, but welcomed.
