• own your own home, and/or have other properties
• have investments other than your home and retirement accounts
• have access to family or inherited money or trust funds
• a high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.)
• have the ability to choose not to work full time, to work part time by choice, or to volunteer as work.

If you identify as upper or middle class and

• you, your partner or your family have regular or reliable income and/or capital gains
• you are financially supported by your partner, family or community
• you, your partner, your families, or your community own your home
• are comfortable with leisure travel, attend festivals, concerts and conferences
• have few restrictions on shopping or entertainments
• have access to health insurance
• have investments or retirement accounts, or assets such as multiple homes, more than one vehicle or recreational vehicles
• have access to family/partner/community money and resources in times of need
• have the ability to choose to work part time, or are self-employed, or volunteer as work

If you consider yourself middle class and

• own/have access to one car
• feel comfortable eating at restaurants and engaging in recreational events
• enjoy a basic level of financial security
