🎬 STORYTELLING THROUGH A LENSSummer Film Camp Presented by 3Peace Studios &amp; Point Loma PlayhousePart of the IMPACT Series2026–2027 Season Step behind the camera and discover the power of visual storytelling. Storytelling Through a Lens is an immersive filmmaking experience for ages 12–18 designed to introduce students to the art of directing, cinematography, editing, and visual storytelling through hands-on experience with professional equipment and actors. Participants will explore how camera angles, framing, perspective, movement, and editing can completely transform the way an audience experiences a story. Space is extremely limited. Enrollment is capped at 10 participants to ensure individualized instruction and access to equipment. 📆 Important Dates Program Begins:Monday, July 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM Student Film Showcase:Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM Showcase includes a screening of student films, donuts, and a celebration with family and friends. 🎬 Program Overview Throughout the week, participants will work with professional filmmakers, professional actors, and industry-standard filmmaking equipment. Students will film and edit their own version of an original scripted scene while learning the foundations of visual storytelling. Every participant will be working from the same scene, but each filmmaker will create a completely different final film based on their creative choices and perspective. One Scene.Ten Filmmakers.Ten Different Stories. 📍 Program Details Location:3148 Fifth AvenueSan Diego, CA 92103 Dates:July 20–24, 2026 Schedule:Monday–Friday9:00 AM–3:00 PM Ages:12–18 Enrollment:Limited to 10 Students 🎥 What Students Will Learn <ul><li>Camera Composition &amp; Framing</li><li>Visual Storytelling</li><li>Directing Actors</li><li>Camera Movement</li><li>Perspective &amp; Point of View</li><li>Shot Selection</li><li>Story Structure</li><li>Editing Techniques</li><li>Working with Professional Equipment</li><li>Creating Emotional Impact Through Film</li></ul> Students will begin by exploring framing and composition using smartphone cameras before advancing to professional filmmaking equipment and production techniques. 🎭 Working with Professional Actors Participants will have the opportunity to work with professional actors performing an original scripted scene created specifically for the program.Students will learn how to: <ul><li>Communicate with actors</li><li>Block scenes</li><li>Direct performances</li><li>Capture emotional moments on camera</li><li>Build visual storytelling through performance</li></ul> 🎞 Equipment &amp; Production Students will gain hands-on experience with professional filmmaking tools and techniques. Participants are required to bring a smartphone with video recording capabilities and a charger for certain exercises and practice assignments. All professional production equipment will be provided by the program. 🍽 Food &amp; Breaks Participants are welcome to bring a lunch. A microwave and refrigerators are available onsite. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the theatre. There is also a 7-Eleven and additional food options within walking distance. With permission, participants may purchase food during designated breaks. 🎟 Student Film Showcase Saturday, July 25, 202610:00 AM Family and friends are invited to attend a special screening of the films created during the week. The showcase will include:Screening of Student FilmsDonuts &amp; RefreshmentsCast and Crew CelebrationRecognition of Student Work 📌 Attendance Expectations Due to the collaborative nature of filmmaking, attendance is strongly encouraged throughout the week. Students should communicate any known conflicts prior to the start of the program. Consistent participation helps ensure the strongest possible final projects and learning experience. 💡 Program Structure &amp; Focus This intensive reflects a professional filmmaking environment while remaining welcoming to students of all experience levels. Whether participants are exploring filmmaking for the first time or already creating content and films on their own, the program is designed to challenge, inspire, and elevate their storytelling skills.
