This one-of-a-kind art piece was created by Rescue Me Art "A bell is a symbol of awarness or alertness for others to respond and react. The community we live in has stepped up once again to support the people that make Albany special. We felt that a bell would embody the call to arms that has been met. This bell is a reminder that with thoughtful and gratious acts of kindness, we can change the lives of not only others, but ourselves. Rescue Me Art finds new purpose for discarded or unused materials. We believe in new begginings for unwanted or unneeded scrap. The pieces we create are not stiving for perfection and will always show some of the wear and work from the life before our resurection (reinvention). There is symbolism and thought into each element of this bell. It has the intention of being a wind bell (a striker or clapper in the cylinder and a wind sail below) but can be augmented to a bell that resonates with the pull of the clapper manually. The cylinder itself is made from a retired fire extinguisher. The clapper is made from a Red Sox baseball and the wind sail is made from a gear that has been fashioned into a movie reel. The bronze braising of the hearts and the cylinder are representing the ability of two seperate metals brought together to exist as one. The top hook and loop is from an old metal pulley."
