Untitled sculpture
handbuilt sculpture by Elise Birnbaum

https://www.oatmeal-shop.com/about

11 x 9.5 inches

FMV $300

---

OATMEAL is the studio practice of Elise Birnbaum. Located in Midcoast Maine, OATMEAL was an idea birthed from a meeting between friends to eat oatmeal and talk about making things. Elise’s current body of work was initially developed in the Japanese countryside, it focuses on sculptural, biomorphic shapes and vessels that initially referenced the cloud pruned, sculptural trees found in Japanese gardens. It continues to be explored in Elise’s home studio where it evolves to take reference from new influences, from the human form to brutalist architecture.

Riccardo, the Governor of Boston, has a guilty secret: he is in love with his closest friend’s wife. He also has enemies. Giuseppe Verdi’s three- act masterwork is based on the real-life assassination of the King of Sweden in 1792 and filled with twists, turns, love, betrayal, murder, a magic herb and the backdrop of an operatic classic, a masked ball. With a full orchestra, the vocal talents of gifted performers from around the world, and a reception that keeps the ballroom alive for opera lovers, Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s marquis concert is the can’t-miss opera event of the year.

Music by Charles Gounod
Libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré
Based on the play by William Shakespeare

Such sweet sorrow.
Shakespeare’s tale of star-crossed lovers was destined for the operatic stage.
The powerful families of Verona—the Montagues and the Capulets—have been feuding for centuries. So when Romeo (a Montague) and Juliet (a Capulet) meet and become hopelessly infatuated with each other, their young love starts down an inevitable path towards tragedy.

The sumptuous score enhances each forbidden moment of passion and doomed romance in perhaps the most celebrated love story of all time.
