Step into the world of SWITCH!Join Aviva Arts for an evening of performance, creative exploration, and community as we share a preview of SWITCH, a bold new work in development exploring identity, belonging, and the stories we inherit, carry, and sometimes choose to leave behind.Built from real oral histories of California-based people of SWANA heritage, SWITCH brings together theatre, sound, and participatory art to explore how we navigate identity, cultural expectations, and the stories that shape who we are.Stay after the preview for a reception, interactive activities inspired by the project, and opportunities to connect with the artists and community. Discover SWITCH: Meet the project and its creative teamorLEARN MORE BELOW! -ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ What do we put on to belong? What do we take off to become ourselves? In a time marked by rising Islamophobia, antisemitism, and cultural division, SWITCH asks what it means to belong in a world that often demands we choose between different parts of ourselves.Created by Aviva Arts Artistic Director Debórah Eliezer, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of artists and cultural practitioners, SWITCH draws on lived experiences and oral histories from people of SWANA heritage, including Arab Jewish, Palestinian, Lebanese, Iranian, and Egyptian backgrounds. The project is unfolding across three connected forms: a theatrical production, an audio series, and a participatory installation. Together, these forms invite audiences to question inherited beliefs, challenge binary narratives, and discover unexpected connections across identities and experiences. This special preview offers a glimpse into the work as it takes shape, bringing audiences into the creative process and the questions at the heart of SWITCH. Meet the creative team Debórah Eliezer — Creator and Artistic DirectorAmal Bisharat — DirectorNoor Adabachi — Environmental DesignerBahar Royaee — ComposerBora “Max” Koknar — Production ManagerDenmo Ibrahim — DramaturgHadar Cohen — Cultural ConsultantThe project is developed in collaboration with organizational partners MEEM Collective, CSU East Bay and Golden Thread.
