Join New Hampshire cellist, Andrew Koutroubas, to experience Bach&rsquo;s intimate, and timeless &ldquo;Suites for Unaccompanied Cello&rdquo; performed on a historical, gut strung, cello typical of Bach&rsquo;s time (1685-1750).&nbsp; Through these cello suites, Bach unites varied cultures and styles by including six pieces in each suite characteristic to those different cultures. Each suite begins with a prelude - a meandering, wandering fantasia traversing the many colors, tonalities, and range of the cello. Followed by five dances.&nbsp; Before the performance, enjoy light refreshments while Andrew Koutroubas gives a brief talk about Bach&rsquo;s life, the time in which he lived, and the varied characteristics and dances of Germany, France, Spain, and Italy represented in Bach&rsquo;s cello suites. &nbsp; Generously hosted by the Hancock Historical Society, this evening will welcome you to the Orland Eaton room on the second floor ballroom of the Charles Symonds house, built 1808-1809. Home to the HHS Museum since 1903, the house has served as a residence, tavern, dormitory and boarding house. This performance, including the pre-concert talk, will run approximately one hour and thirty minutes.&nbsp; This event is free and open to the public, however tickets are limited, and online RSVP is required.
