The format of our summer school was heavily inspired by the ongoing successful MESA summer school. Participants can expect to learn the necessary radiative transfer and plasma physics, as well as how to perform scientific quality spectral synthesis of explosive transients with TARDIS to measure key parameters in supernova ejecta, such as elemental composition, densities, and luminosity. The summer school will culminate with a hands-on project to synthesize a spectrum for a nearby well-observed supernova and gain an understanding of the explosion and its progenitor.
