How does food speak to our body and mind?Have you ever wondered how every bite of food connects you to the stories of the land and its people?  Despite the face of globalization and mass-production, Indigenous communities still constantly practice their ways of being, living, and co-existing within the land: from foraging and planting to cooking and sharing, food becomes more than nourishment—it carries memory, tradition, and their ways of living. This way of living is connected to the Slow Food Movement, providing an insight into the conundrum of the modern world.   Together with GreenShower PNW, we have invited two speakers who have long been involved in the Indigenous food sovereignty movement to share their stories and relationships within the land. Oscar Wang, a PhD student in Education at the University of Victoria, Canada. He used to work as a tour guide, learning from the Indigenous community at the Hualien Indigenous Wild Vegetable Center in Taiwan. Oscar will share insights on Indigenous slow food practices, international collaboration, and food sovereignty movements. RC Chin-wen Lai, an ecologist and educator, who will guide us through knowledge of mountain ecosystems and the wisdom embedded in everyday life with the forest.Join us for an insightful conversation about the food cultures of Indigenous Peoples and their deep relationship with nature.
