Teen Intro to Clay

LXCL:Add as many as you would like! Sessions are on Mondays from 5-7pm and include guidance and materials. Firing is a seperate $10 per piece fee.

Optional Open Studio Session

The Teen Intro to Clay class is perfect for students ages 13+ or those who have graduated from 8th grade. Students will spend two afternoons learning basic technique in our warm, welcoming clay studio environment at 208 State Street in historic Downtown Alton, Illinois.&nbsp; No previous experience is needed!&nbsp; Learn how to wedge your clay properly and to use tools like the extruder, slab roller, and wheels to create pieces with clay. Students will have up to three hours of time to experiment with technique and explore processes in our beautiful, natural light clay studio space led by local teacher Aimee Parks.&nbsp; 9/21- Week one will focus on the process of hand building. Learn to coil, create slabs, score, and build shapes using your hands as tools.&nbsp; 9/28- Week two focuses on wheel throwing. Students will learn the basic processes of how to throw pots on an electric potter&#39;s wheel.&nbsp; This class is technique focused and may not result in a finished piece. Teens are welcome to add on Teen Open Clay Studio Sessions on Mondays from 5-7pm for an additional $10/session to continue to work on their technique or to finalize their pieces.&nbsp;
