Join Our Fall Book Discussion! The Laconia Historical &amp; Museum Society invites you to read and discuss The Shock of Colonialism in New England: Fragments from a Frontier by Meghan C. L. Howey, professor of anthropology at the University of New Hampshire. The book explores the impact of European colonization on Indigenous communities in seventeenth-century New England through archaeology, historical records, and Indigenous perspectives, offering a deeper understanding of our region&#39;s shared history. The discussion will be moderated by Alexandra (Alix) Martin, archaeologist at Strawbery Banke Museum and adjunct faculty at the University of New Hampshire.&nbsp; Participants will attend a Kick-Off Zoom Session on Tuesday, September 22, from 6:00&ndash;6:30 p.m., where Alix will introduce the book and provide historical context. Upon receipt of your receipt of&nbsp;your registration, we will send the Zoom link and further information on how to obtain the book. The group will then gather for an in-person discussion on Tuesday, October 20, from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Laconia Public Library.
