Hello Marshall Families! Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! This year will prove to be an amazing and exciting one that we will all be navigating together as one herd. The Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is a group of staff and parent volunteers who help raise money to enhance the education and experience of students at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School (TMES). Our PTC is a crucial part of maintaining the Marshall experience that we all know and love and that can’t be emphasized enough. 100% of the money raised by the PTC goes directly back to our school. Each year the PTC identifies important needs to fund in the school across all grade levels. A few of the larger items we have provided in the past include the printers every staff member uses daily, smart TVs in classrooms, document cameras, student laptops, field trip funds, curriculum support materials, as well as annual teacher stipends to help support their individual classroom needs and of course all the amazing events we host throughout the year. How can you get involved? The first step is to simply join the PTC for events or a spot on the board. Please see the attached Membership Form and return it to your student’s teacher as soon as possible. Our Drive ends on August 31st and the classes with the highest participation will earn a special prize! Volunteers are the backbone of a successful PTC, and we ask that you consider volunteering at an event throughout the year. Our board is made up of working parents just like you, using our skills to make a difference at our school. Everyone has something unique to offer and/or connections that can greatly help the PTC. Research shows that when families are actively engaged, teachers report stronger relationships with parents, more support in the classroom and a more positive school culture overall. We’re working to continue to build that kind of environment here together. We truly value your partnership and hope you’ll join us this year!Please see the attached Volunteer Form for opportunities. We raise much of our budget in the first few months of the school year, but large events like the Ultra Fun Run are just around the corner in August and Fall Festival in October require many volunteers! Although we work hard to raise money for TMES, we have fun! Wonderful memories are made at these school-wide events, and we look forward to them each year.
