Samuel Thorpe Town Common Painting
$200

Starting bid

On Christmas Day in 1990 Mary West gave this beautiful painting of our historic common in Autumn, to her husband Ed.  Ed in turn ultimately donated this painting to the non-profit he loved and did so much for, the Townsend Historical Society. Ed requested that this painting be auctioned off to support the Townsend Historical Society, so that is what we are doing now. Given the beautiful fall colors on the town common in this painting, we thought the fall was the perfect time to auction it.

Local artist Samuel S. Thorpe owned galleries in Townsend and Kennebunkport, Maine. Here’s your chance to own a piece of Townsend’s history, while you also support the Townsend Historical Society and its mission.
