Through this research, researchers can validate family stories, find out if they are related to someone famous, better understand family traditions, reconnect with other family members and even satisfy a curiosity &ndash; while sometimes creating new questions.&nbsp; On Wednesday, September 2, Julie Dresser will be leading a seven-week class that will provide hints, tips and tricks for genealogists. Dresser started as a genealogist at age eleven and has never lost her passion. Now, she is sharing her knowledge with those interested in starting genealogy or those who want to brush up their skills.&nbsp; The seven weeks will include:&nbsp; 1) September 2: Introduction and home sources&nbsp; 2) September 9: Birth, marriage and death records&nbsp; 3) September 16: Census records&nbsp; 4) September 23: Immigration records&nbsp; 5) September 30: Military/court records6) October 7: Local and national repositories&nbsp; 7) October 14: Writing a family history.&nbsp; She will provide many personal examples during the class, and it is open to all ages. Michelle Donahoe, Executive Director of the DeKalb County History Center shared, &ldquo;Julie does a great job teaching. The feedback is consistently positive from people just beginning their journey in genealogy to those who worked on it for years.&rdquo; Registration is required, and there is limited space available and spots fill up quickly.
