Special Early Bird Bidding Opportunity.  These auction items are now up for bidding for tomorrow's fundraiser - Unlocking Hidden Potential._____What are your bids and donations going toward? Helping Changing Patterns create a healthy support system for those who may not have one._____ A healthy community creates a sense of belonging for all its members. This sense of belonging is achieved when community members have access to essential resources, an opportunity to succeed, and have a healthy support system. Over 500 citizens are returning to Deschutes County from prison each year, and successful re-entry depends on their support system.  Problem: Many citizens returning from prison do not have a healthy support system and lack the social skills needed to participate as prosocial community members which can create a feeling of disconnect and lack of sense of belonging. Without these skills and some sense of connection with the community, returning citizens lose confidence to advocate and may revert back to old, antisocial behaviors to survive leading to new crime (recidivism).  Solution: Mentoring through community and Peer Support. Founded on lived experience, Changing Patterns has been dedicated to reducing recidivism since 2017 through programs to assist returning citizens in successfully navigating the obstacles and barriers of re-entry. Participants learn the social and life skills needed to become productive community members while connecting to essential resources like housing, employment, and transportation.  Our staff have the experience, dedication, and energy to be the "hands and feet" as mentors. Your donations are the heartbeat keeping us alive and able to continue the work. You are our support system, so we can be theirs.
