This lecture traces the flower&rsquo;s enduring presence from the colonial period through the Victorian era and into the early twentieth century, revealing how daffodils became firmly rooted in Virginian gardens. Sara has held leadership roles with the Georgia Daffodil Society, served on the board of the Cherokee Garden Library, and contributed her expertise to Historic Oakland Cemetery. Following the publication of Daffodils in American Gardens, 1933&ndash;1940 (2015), she was invited by the Royal Horticultural Society to serve as a corresponding member of the Narcissus Classification Advisory Group. She currently serves as Chair of the Historics Committee of the American Daffodil Society, where she founded the ADS Display Garden Program and moderates the committee&rsquo;s listserv. Sara is also revising and expanding the Historics Handbook and, in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society, is leading an international effort to review and refine the classification of Division 8 Tazetta daffodils, working closely with hybridizers around the world.
