In August 1776, Maryland&rsquo;s soldiers saved the Continental Army at the Battle of Brooklyn, earning the nickname &ldquo;Maryland 400.&rdquo; They went on to fight in nearly every major battle of the war, gaining renown for their courage and discipline.&nbsp; Their story has never been fully told and their contributions to the cause of the Revolution never fully recognized. Join us at the historic Rising Sun Inn on Saturday March 21st at 3pm for a special presentation by the Maryland State Archives Research Archivist Owen Laurie. For more than 10 years, the Maryland State Archives has researched these soldiers. They have written and posted biographies online of all the known members of the unit. Now that work is ready to be published as a book, the first time that every Maryland soldier&rsquo;s story has been told.&nbsp;Speaker Bio: Owen Lourie is Research Archivist at the Maryland State Archives, first joining the staff as an intern in 2003. He has conducted and supervised research on a wide array of topics relating to Maryland history, including&nbsp;Brookeville, Maryland, during the Early Federal Era. He also co-curated an exhibit at the Maryland State House, &ldquo;&lsquo;The Enemy Nearly All &lsquo;Round Us&rsquo;: Annapolis &amp; The War of 1812.&rdquo; He earned a B.A. in American Studies from Kenyon College in 2005, and an M.A. in history, with a concentration in public history, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2012.Your host for this event is the Rising Sun Inn.
