Volunteer Opportunities: Q3 2026

Fundraising Team
Free

Are you a people person? Organization queen? Party planner?

We need you to help us reach our goal of $5,000 for the Inspiring Generosity Match Fund. The official deadline is December 2026, but we want to show them we mean business, so have pushed our deadline up to September 30, 2026--the end of Q2!

We're looking for people to help organize and/or execute fundraising initiatives. We've got the ideas, but we need help to make it all happen! (And we welcome your ideas too!)

This is great for a couple of friends or a group who wants to have fun together and do good at the same time!

Time commitment: ~2-3 hours per month

Experience needed: nothing but a good attitude

Next steps: indicate your interest by July 3 to participate in an onboarding gathering on the afternoon of July 7.

Marketing & Promotion Ambassadors
Free

We are in desperate need of getting the word out about our mission!

If you have seen our social media, you know this is not our strong suit. We're looking for a few people to act as "brand" ambassadors by posting or messaging about who we are and what we do and what we need. This is perfect for book lovers or educators or parents or community members or business professionals or anyone who wants to see us thrive!

You can use your own social media or email or old school communication method to help us reach a larger audience. Examples of possible topics to post about:

  • share about an upcoming fundraising event or volunteer opportunity
  • post pics from a recent event
  • a call for donations or ideas of businesses to approach
  • share a literacy stat and explain how were helping
  • Come up with your own idea (you're better at this than I am)

Time commitment: .5 - 1 hour per month (1-2 "posts" per month), on your own time*

Experience needed: it's a plus if you have a talent for posting or making videos or doing canva, but honestly it's just about the messaging. If you're willing, we're happy to share any graphics, logos, resources for literacy stats, etc.

Next steps: send us an email letting us know why you're interested and how you think you can help!

Bonus: ambassadors get free merch!

*An alternative could be to create some general marketing material in bulk that we'll be able to use ad hoc. We'll set you up with the appropriate logins, logo, etc. and figure out an arrangement that works with your schedule.

Canvassing Team
Free

If you love our idea of bringing books into the community spaces that kids frequent with their caregivers, we'd love your help approaching businesses in local book deserts about becoming a Book Nook Host.

We'll pick an area and provide lists of targeted businesses as well as all the materials you'll need to get the word out about what we do.

Time commitment: 1-3 hours per month. We'll organize one Canvassing Day per month that will include a kickoff meeting to share materials and messaging and will end with a pizza party!

Or, if you'd rather do it on your own time, we can give you the materials to dispense at your convenience. We encourage everyone to use the buddy system for this!

Experience needed: should be comfortable with "cold" approaching businesses and feel confident in your knowledge of our mission.

Next steps: indicate your interest and t-shirt size by June 30. in order to get your free Community Book Nooks t-shirt. Our first Team Canvassing Day will be Friday, July 10.

Grant Writing + Research
Free

This is an ongoing need. You do not need to have grant writing experience. We will give you access to our GrantStation database as well as our boiler plate info and past grants. We need people to help:

  • search the database and identify relevant grants
  • order grants based on priority/due date/feasibility
  • compile a list of additional materials we'll need for each
  • create first drafts

Please note that we don't expect one person to do all of this -- but we are desperately in need of help sifting through and getting grants started.

Time commitment: 1-3 hours per month, in time chunks that work for your schedule!

Experience needed: experience in grant writing or researching is a plus but not necessary; comfortability with working with a database, drafting Google docs helpful. Should be comfortable working independently with weekly or biweekly check-ins.

Next steps: send us an email letting us know why you're interested and how you think you can help!

Bonus: grant writers get free merch!
