In this one-day workshop, you’ll create a crossbody wandering basket designed to move with you through gardens, markets, and northern woods. Measuring approximately 10" long, 6" wide, and 10" high, this basket features a soft leather strap that rests comfortably at your hip, keeping your hands free for gathering and exploring. Both beautiful and practical, it’s a handmade companion for everyday adventures.Students will learn how to form a solid base, shape an oval rise, and lash a sturdy rim for long-term use. The design blends traditional weaving techniques with modern functionality, resulting in a durable, thoughtfully crafted basket. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to make something beautiful and useful. She is 1/2 of the family duo of the cottage industry, Suku Mokki. Her work lives at the intersection of usefulness and meaning—creating baskets, textiles, and objects meant to be carried, worn, and lived with.  She believes making is a form of remembering - how to work with your hands, how to move at a human pace, how to create something that lasts.  In her classes, Lori teaches traditional weaving techniques with a modern, practical lens, guiding students to build pieces that are not only beautiful, but deeply usable. Her hope is that every student leaves with more than a basket...they leave with a renewed sense that they can make what they need. Suku Mokki isn’t just about selling high-quality handcrafted items—it’s also about fostering creativity and craftsmanship. Lori and Grayci offer basket-weaving and knitting classes across Minnesota and Wisconsin, empowering others to explore the world of fiber arts.
