Michael was born in London in 1966 to a Greek father and a Belgian mother. Since the age of 7 he was raised in Kopan Monastery in Nepal and became ordained as a Buddhist monk in the Tibetan tradition. At age 13, he entered the Sera Jey Monastic University in South India where he spent the next 18 years studying Buddhist Philosophy. In 1996 his mentor and teacher Lama Zopa Rinpoche advised him to serve as translator for Tibetan Buddhist masters and had since been invited to several Buddhist centres around the world. In 2020 Venerable Michael was invited to be the resident teacher at Yeshin Norbu Buddhist Center in Stockholm, Sweden. He is currently living with his mother in Yucca Valley, California.
