World Refugee Day (WRD) Chicago / Refugee Action Network, in collaboration with SIAM Studio- Jake Siam Solomon, is screening &quot;Breakaway,&quot; a documentary that follows two players from the WRD Chicago Refugee World Cup for more than a year as they build hope, connection, and community in a new home through sport and resilience. Snacks and refreshments will be served.&nbsp;Q+A discussion with the film&#39;s central figures follows the screening. 100% of funds raised through this film screening support the <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.wrdchicago.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">World Refugee Day Chicago</a> 2026 events. Since 2002, WRD Chicago has commemorated World Refugee Day by organizing events, workshops, street parades, downtown rallies, guest speakers, as well as diverse multicultural performances by members of the Chicago refugee community. WRD Chicago is an ad-hoc volunteer coalition of refugee advocates and refugees, representatives from resettlement agencies, mutual aid and non-profit organizations as well as a wide range of community volunteers, all working together with the goal of creating joyful, engaging events that celebrate refugees and illustrate that we are all one human family.
