We believe that when students spend time in nature and take part in camping, hiking and kayaking for example, the outcome improves their cognition, mood, self-esteem as well as making them physically healthier and less anxious. These activities take place outdoors and are complemented with lessons from a curriculum that focuses on building conflict resolution skills and refining their ability to regulate their emotions so when students are faced with decisions that can bring harm to others they have the tools and strategies to navigate those situations. Another key activity that we focus on is building reading comprehension skills. We use behavioral data from the schools that students attend and create engaging stories that the students literally see themselves in.
