***Scroll to the bottom to see information about our very limited and exclusive ‘Thank You’ gift for donations of $500+*** Plans are underway… architectural renderings are complete… we’re 3 wks into the drafting of electronical, mechanical and engineering renderings. This is the stage where plumbing, electrical, and knowing how much of the materials will be needed. It’ll be construction detailed drawings. A lift-station is being designated to connect our property that is in the county to the city sewer line on the other side of the street to accommodate extra restrooms. How We Started…We began July 2005, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metrolitan +Nicholas of Amissos, the former ruling Bishop of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the USA under the Patriarchate of Constantinople, initial steps were taken in establishing an Orthodox parish in Lakeland, Florida with the name of St. Nectarios of Aegina dedicated to serve, teach & guide people to Jesus Christ. Lakeland, FL is a rural community between two major central Florida cities on Interstate 4 (Tampa 45 mins. on the West and Orlando 45 mins. on the East). Our first liturgy was on August 14, 2005, in the home of its pastor, Fr. Nicholas Wyborski. Beginning with 6 people and expanding to 50, with the generosity of benefactors, both local and from throughout the country, the parish raised enough funds to put a down payment on 13 acres of land at 405 Marcum Road. Working diligently a double wide trailer has been our home since 2009. In January 2019, His Eminence, Metropolitan Bishop Gregory of Nyssa, assigned Fr. Demetrious Glimidakis as the first full-time priest of the parish. Although Covid in 2020 kept people in fear, we took to social media and to streaming daily services and incorporating many weekday services. Growing a large online following, and expanding local outreach ministry, the parish has significantly outgrown the double wide trailer with many young ethnically diverse converts to the Orthodox Christian Faith, including many children and inquirers. In 2023, we began the planning stages of a permanent 2-story church that could accommodate 2 Divine Liturgies on a Sunday morning, when we began projecting growth. We started architectural, environmental and development planning. (The long-term plan is an $4 million venture, and a lot of the engineering and architectural plans have already been financed by the parish, as this is a much slower process building an Orthodox Church from scratch instead of a prefab one.) Even expanding our parking lot to accommodate the growth projections. Reasons For Expansion…Currently having more than 160+ people (adults & children) from all walks of life, various backgrounds, various ethnicities, and varying ages. We receive many visitors and inquirers coming into the parish and offer many opportunities for those within the parish including women’s, men’s and youth gatherings, boardgame days, movie events, as well as Sunday School, catechism classes and a homeschool co-op. We have a very active vocations ministry, where altar servers are encouraged to assist with Reader services and community events. The parish is blessed to have several men preparing for the Holy Priesthood through various Orthodox seminaries.Currently, 2 from our parish are 2nd year seminary students at our Diocese, with another 1 family entering as first year to seminary and 1 more who has submitted intent to enroll to our diocese seminary. We have 2 more men enrolled in HCHC’s diaconate program to become permanent deacons. The need for a new home is imminent. Direction We Need To Go…In order to support the current level of growth and maintain our future goals, we need an immediate structure that can be built within 3-4 months. For us to act quickly and accommodate the people we have now, we need an estimated $350,000 to cover the loan/interest and expenses of a supporting structure with concrete base. We have volunteer laborers from our parish in fields of plumbing, electrical, construction, metalwork and woodwork, but the costs of lumber, concrete, etc. is what is causing the cost to rise for us. We are working on the immediate needs of the people we serve now with a 4,800-5,000 sq. ft. simple steel frame construction which more than DOUBLES are existing doublewide trailer! In order to make this happen, we need help from you! Whether you can offer $5 a month or one-time donation or $500 annual donation, every dollar counts in making this project a reality. There are other ways to support us as well:

Donate: Every dollar counts. Help us reach our goal. Donation is tax-deductible.

Share: Kindly bless us by sharing our campaign with your friends, family, and on social media. Your advocacy can amplify our impact.

Volunteer: Your time and skills can make an impact too.

Prayer. Prayer changes everything.

Thank you for supporting our mission, your support is invaluable. God bless you! **** As a ‘Thank you’ from our parish, we were able to acquire a very unique gift from the Holy Land. For a $500+ one-time donation, we will send you a special gift containing a unique marble tile fragment from the aedicule chamber of the Holy Sepulcher (this is the chamber in which the Patriarch of Jerusalem emerges with the Light of Pascha). When restoration maintenance to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem was completed, there were leftover fragments that were obtained. These fragments have been made into these ‘thank you’ gifts 🎁 on our behalf. Please fill-out your contact information to receive the gift. It is limited and available only while our supplies last to those within the continental USA.
