A roof is just the start — your gift helps keep people housed. When someone transitions from homelessness to housing, the journey isn’t over. With your support, Meals on Wheels West delivers nutritious meals and vital check-ins that help our neighbors stay nourished, connected, and securely housed. For many formerly unhoused individuals, the first months in permanent or supportive housing can be the hardest. Budgets are tight. Health challenges linger. Isolation sets in. Through our Food and Shelter program, Meals on Wheels West delivers healthy, home-delivered meals directly to those newly housed — along with wellness checks and referrals that keep people stable and thriving. Our meals act as a rent subsidy, easing the financial strain of buying groceries so clients don’t have to choose between paying rent or eating. Each visit reinforces health, stability, and belonging. And with help from our Community Connections volunteers, clients receive weekly Friendly Calls that provide social support and connections to 50+ local agencies offering medical care, mental health resources, transportation, and crisis assistance. Together, we’re proving that food security and housing stability go hand in hand.
