Break the cycle of abuse. LIZ Break Free is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Fresno, California. We help survivors of domestic violence get a restraining order without the burdensome and overwhelming process that stops so many people before they start. Getting protection in California can mean a 46-page court packet, repeated trips to the courthouse, and forms rejected for technical mistakes, all while trying to stay safe. LIZ replaces that with one set of plain-language questions you can answer from a phone, from anywhere. We generate the restraining order forms, help survivors electronically file them, and arrange service of the paperwork on the abuser by the sheriff. Free for survivors. Always. Preparing those forms costs us $250. We ask the court to order the person who caused the harm to pay it. If the court does not order it, we write it off completely. It is never the survivor's bill. How your gift helps: $25 helps keep these free tools online and available at 2 a.m., when a survivor may finally have a safe moment to act. $250 funds one survivor's complete restraining order filing today. When a court orders the other party to pay that cost and it is collected, it helps fund the next filing. $1,000 funds four filings. Your donation goes to work right away: keeping the service free, safe, and simple for the next person who needs to break free. Thank you for standing with survivors. LIZ Break Free is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. EIN 85-4239010. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Help Break the Cycle of Abuse
