The Urgency    Hunger is rising across Los Angeles as local disruptions make it harder for families to access the healthy foods they need. 900,000 Angelenos are already food insecure. Communities are being pushed to choose between paying rent or putting food on the table.  Imagine if that was you &amp; your family? Why should anyone be without food?<img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1762230308/wysiwyg/pszgtarjycob7fkak7qh.jpg" style="width:600px;display:block;vertical-align:top;margin:5px auto;text-align:center;padding:0px 1px;max-width:100%" /> The Local RealityHunger often hides in plain sight. Behind the postcard views of palm trees are hundreds of affordable housing buildings, halfway houses, bridge housing and shelters, where families and seniors are struggling. Most are renters living paycheck to paycheck.  Growing Hope Gardens, in partnership with <a href="https://communitycorp.org/" target="_blank">Community Corporation of Santa Monica</a>, <a href="https://www.thepeopleconcern.org/" target="_blank">The People Concern</a>, <a href="https://www.holoscommunities.org/" target="_blank">Holos Communities</a> and <a href="https://www.elacc.org/" target="_blank">East Los Angeles Community Corporation</a>, <a href="https://annenberg.org/" target="_blank">The Annenberg Foundation</a> &amp; other organizations in Los Angeles, is stepping in to help our neighbors weather this crisis. <img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1762229325/wysiwyg/o1hrsajn1mqvjdxdgepu.jpg" style="width:600px;display:block;vertical-align:top;margin:5px auto;text-align:center;padding:0px 1px;max-width:100%" /> Our ResponseWe’re launching the Growing Hope Emergency Food Program from our urban farm in Santa Monica — a community-powered food hub to collect, store, and distribute fresh food.  We urgently need funding for:<ul><li>Commercial Refrigerator – So we can add meat, eggs &amp; milk to our Free Farmer's Market.</li><li>Refrigerated Truck – Pick up and deliver rescued foods.</li><li>Adding Saturday 11-1pm as a our second Free Farmer's Market day. </li><li>Support for Staffing, Equipment, Operations – Logistics, and volunteers.</li><li>Community Food Bank – Free Farmer's Market.  </li></ul> <img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1762229397/wysiwyg/ktlhvdvzfo0ypjf2xzit.jpg" style="width:600px;display:block;vertical-align:top;margin:5px auto;text-align:center;padding:0px 1px;max-width:100%" /> What We Do<img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1763750696/wysiwyg/w53ifjhymu5nhkwdoer4.jpg" style="width:600px;display:block;vertical-align:top;margin:5px auto;text-align:center;padding:0px 1px;max-width:100%" />We grow food, grow hope, and grow community.
