🚲Laval will have its very first Cyclovia this Sunday, September 21! For the occasion, a portion of Cartier Boulevard (between Michaud and Amp&egrave;re) will be closed to motorized traffic to make way for bicycles, roller skates&nbsp;! 🚲 For the occasion, Mecanique Feministe will be present to offer participants a mixed-gender mechanics workshop. Bike mechanics has historically been a male-dominated field, but it doesn&#39;t have to stay that way!The mixed-gender workshop is a way to deconstruct gender stereotypes related to mechanics, by showing that bike practice and repair are simple and accessible. We will learn to check the main safety elements on your bike and you will be introduced to basic adjustments (brakes, tires, transmission maintenance) to keep your bike in good condition and ride more easily. No prior knowledge of bike mechanics is required. Bring your bike!This workshop is specifically reserved for women, children, non-binary individuals, and gender minorities underrepresented in bike mechanics. 📍The workshop will take place in the parking lot of the Emile-Nelligan library in Laval.

Pour l&#39;occasion, une portion du boulevard Cartier (entre Legrand et Breton) sera ferm&eacute;e &agrave; la circulation motoris&eacute;e pour&nbsp;laisser place aux v&eacute;los, aux patins &agrave; roulette ou encore aux trottinettes&nbsp;! 🚲 Pour l&#39;occasion, M&eacute;canique F&eacute;ministe sera pr&eacute;sente pour offrir aux participant&middot;es un atelier de m&eacute;canique en mixit&eacute; choisie. La mécanique vélo est un domaine historiquement genré au masculin, mais ce n’est pas obligé de le rester !  Cet atelier est réservé spécifiquement aux femmes, enfants, personnes non-binaires et minorités de genre sous représenté dans la mécanique vélo. L'atelier en mixité choisie est une manière de déconstruire les stéréotypes de genre liés à la mécanique, en montrant que la pratique du vélo et la réparation sont simples et accessibles. Nous apprendrons à vérifier les principaux éléments de sécurité sur votre vélo et vous initierez aux ajustements de bases (freins, pneus, entretien de la transmission) pour garder votre vélo en bon état et rouler plus facilement.  Aucune connaissance préalable en mécanique vélo n’est nécessaire.
