Hello, Supporters! We are Mary, Andrew, and Michelle, and we are the children of Dr. Michael and Mrs. Grace Adeniyi. This was contracted during our first family trip back home to Nigeria during Christmas break of 2000. This trip was meant to be a momentous occasion as it marked the first time our parents had been back to Nigeria since immigrating 12 years prior. For it to be marred with such pain and loss was sorrowful. As you can imagine, the months and years following his passing was extremely difficult for us as a family. To help cope with the loss, our parents decided they wanted to do something to honor our brother and to contribute to the betterment of their hometown of Igbope, Oyo State, Nigeria. With a population of nearly 6 million, almost 80% of households in Oyo State, Nigeria, are considered to be living below the poverty line. This prevalence of poverty is one of many factors impacting the education and health of communities in the area.  About Adeniyi Memorial Hospital Little by little, they started building up their community in Igbope, Nigeria, from their savings and income from the United States. They completed the following projects for the community: built a library, helped pay the salaries and living expenses of missionaries in Igbope, built a church, and built a borehole well. As if all these projects were not enough on their own, it was addressing the lack of health resources and amenities in the community that our parents ultimately felt was their calling. <img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1700445525/mdowid63zvbznew3ja6s.png" style="margin:5px 0px 5px 5px;display:inline-block;vertical-align:bottom;text-align:right;width:331px;height:257.653px;position:relative;cursor:pointer;padding:0px 1px;box-sizing:inherit;float:right;-webkit-user-select:none;max-width:100%" /> Embarking on an 8-year endeavor where they poured their blood, sweat, tears, and most of their life savings, <a href="https://www.adeniyimemorialhospital.org/">Adeniyi Memorial Hospital &amp; Lifestyle Center (AMH)</a> was born. It is a privately owned, not-for-profit hospital located in Orelope Local Government Area, Oyo State, Nigeria. Its mission is to improve the health of its patients and community through excellent care, education, and service.  It officially opened December, 2015, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and local citizens, dignitaries, and other honorable members in attendance. At the time of its opening, it was the only hospital within a 60-mile radius of the town that had technologically-advanced machines to perform a variety of scans and tests. It is a bungalow-style layout and currently sits on over 13 acres of land, with possibility to build out on an additional 7 acres.  Eight years later, AMH is the preferred referral for X-ray services and diagnostics. It has also developed the reputation for quality patient services, safe baby deliveries, and patient-friendly staff. It is also known for being a well-run hospital with modern equipment, and hygienic facilities compared to other clinics and medical facilities around the area. <img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1700493394/mgwsuzrvzvffiku0rccp.png" style="width:600px;display:block;vertical-align:top;margin:5px auto;text-align:center;-webkit-user-select:none;max-width:100%" /> In 2020, the hospital formally expanded to also add a College of Health Technology program. The inaugural class of that program just had their commencement ceremony in Sep, 2023. Additionally, we received approval to begin a College of Nursing program to educate future generations on ways to live healthier lives and contribute to the workforce.  Why We Need Your Help In September 2021, our father, Dr. Michael Adeniyi, was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer despite being a non-smoker and living a relatively healthy lifestyle. It was later determined that the CPAP sleeping machines he had been using for several years were faulty, and he had been unknowingly ingesting cancerous materials from the machines for years. <img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/hxn9dbuhd/image/upload/v1700490497/lmipmdt6st35smjncrmg.png" style="width:345px;display:inline-block;vertical-align:bottom;margin:5px 0px 5px 5px;text-align:right;position:relative;cursor:pointer;padding:0px 1px;box-sizing:inherit;float:right;-webkit-user-select:none;max-width:100%" /> As a family, we are still grappling with the reality of his situation. However, as a family of faith, we are optimistic that he will overcome his illness and live to share his testimony with the world. Due to his illness, our parents have had to retire to face his sickness full-time.  Now that our parents are no longer able to financially support and carry the weight of its long-term financial stability and growth on their own, we desire the support of strong individuals and businesses like you with integrity and leadership, compassion and a sense of service, a spirit of generosity and love for community.  A Gift of Lasting Impact We have taken time to assess, personally inspect, conduct focus groups with the staff, administrators, and students, and have compiled the following list to be the most-needed items/actions to keep the hospital and schools running and continue serving the community:<ol><li>Replace a variety of equipments that are not functioning well, including MRI machine, X-ray machine, and Ultrasound machine</li><li>Purchase more relevant and newer course-related textbooks and resources for the students</li><li>Secure solar panels and other sustainable energy for the hospital and school</li><li>Improve marketing efforts to grow awareness of the hospital and school, to reach not only nearby communities but also country-wide</li><li>Support the local families through health education to practice more healthy lifestyles to aid in prevention of common and long-term illness</li></ol>Our goal is to raise $20,000 by December 31st, 2023, in honor of Dr. Michael &amp; Mrs.Grace Adeniyi, who have given their all to help others.
