There are a lot of reasons to spay your female dogs and cats:- helps prevent unwanted litters- reduces the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers- prevents pyometra, a potentially fatal urine infection- allows dogs and cats to live longer, healthier lives Choosing to not spay female dogs and cats, or not having access to the resources to do so, can have so many unfortunate and unintended consequences:  🐶 In puppy mills, mother dogs spend their entire lives in cramped cages, and due to poor sanitation, overbreeding and lack of veterinary care, many puppies suffer from significant health issues.  🐾 In some remote or rural communities, a lack of veterinary services, like spay programs, contribute to uncontrolled growth of dog populations and can lead to increased aggression among dogs and the spread of parasites.  🐱 Un-spayed cats are more likely to wander, exposing them to dangers like traffic, reducing their overall life span. New Collar Collective has had 5 litters of puppies and 3 litters of kittens in the last 5 years, and have facilitated more than 125 spay surgeries, helping to set female dogs and cats up for safe, happy, and comfortable lives.  Each surgery costs between $400 and $800.  New Collar Collective ensures that all our animals are spayed or neutered before being adopted.
