I can still recall when I transferred into 2nd grade there. The five years I spent at P.S. 40 were full of learning and joy. My classmates and I bonded, spent time in the winter woods at Lenox Hill Camp, owned the playgrounds in Stuyvesant Town, created art which is still displayed in the school, and eventually parted ways to go to various middle schools (after having to square dance in front of all our families at graduation). Now I work in a NYC public school and have seen first hand the support NYC Kids RISE is giving families all across the five boroughs. Every child should know their family wants them to continue through school and eventually attend college and career training schools.
