The August McComis Building Fund
It is not a stretch to say that the 314 Community would not exist without August McComis. The impact he had on our founder, Kelly Miller, was pivotal to Kelly’s growth in student ministry and path to living and serving in Uganda. While August was in high school and college, he and Kelly worked together on five different short-term mission trips including two where they served vulnerable Ugandan students.August was universally known for his tireless efforts to introduce those around him to Jesus. His genuine kindness and sincere love impacted anyone who had the great privilege of calling him a friend. He used all the gifts God had given to him, including but not limited to an infectious ability to lead people in worship, purely for the benefit of others. August never wanted in glory for himself. For reasons we will never understand on this side of Heaven, August unexpectedly went home to be with his Savior in July of 2020. His passing devastated a broad fellowship of people whose lives were all made better because of How God used him in their lives. August’s legacy, however, is to the many people who came to know Jesus for the first time or more intimately because of how we loved all of us. The August Center will be The Sanctuary’s community gathering space and the centerpiece of the campus. It is designed to be a multi-purpose building that can be used as an eating area for students, a conference hall for broader programs, and most importantly, an auditorium space for worship that will honor August’s legacy in the most fitting way possible.
