After paralysis reshaped everything I thought I knew about my future, I was forced to reinvent myself and search for a new sense of purpose. What began as survival slowly turned into clarity. Out of that journey, the Nick Howe Foundation (NHF) was born. Last year, my team and I made the decision to build something meaningful from what I had lived through, and in December we proudly received our 501(c)(3) nonprofit designation. The mission of NHF is deeply personal. During my hardest moments, I experienced firsthand how fragmented support systems can be&mdash;how families, patients, and individuals are often left navigating life-altering circumstances alone. Those experiences shaped our focus on three critical areas where help is most needed: support for cancer patients and their families, access to adaptive equipment for youth with disabilities, and assistance for individuals undergoing major organ transplants. My story is the foundation of this organization. Every challenge, setback, and hard lesson revealed the same truth: people don&rsquo;t just need treatment or equipment&mdash;they need support, dignity, and someone willing to stand beside them. As we move forward, I&rsquo;m filled with gratitude and determination. NHF exists to serve, to fill the gaps, and to provide real, compassionate support to our community when it matters most.
