2026/2027 Bond - 699 Jasper Place Air Cadets
Details on the Volunteer Fundraising Bond ProgramWhat is the SSC, and why do we need to fundraise? The Air Cadet Program is jointly funded by the Government of Canada, through National Defence, and by parents and guardians through their local Squadron Sponsoring Committees (SSCs). Every parent and guardian is a member of the 699 Jasper Place SSC by virtue of their child being a member of the Squadron. As parents, we are jointly responsible for providing approximately $70,000 in fundraising each training year to support our cadets and their activities about $470.00 per cadet. How much is the bond? We all have a role to play in achieving this fundraising goal. In recognition of that role and our commitment, the parents voted at the SSC AGM in April 2025 to institute a $190.00/cadet volunteer fundraising bond for parents. At the SSC AGM in May 2026 it was voted to keep the bond at $190.00/cadet. The bond is optional and is refundable as parents support fundraising activities for the Squadron.Parents may also opt to make the bond a donation. Donations will receive a tax receipt for the $190.00. Once a donation is made and a tax receipt issued, volunteer credits cannot be obtained against the bond. However, parents are still welcome and encouraged to volunteer to support the Squadron further. How will the bond be returned? Parents receive credit for fundraising activities they support. The bond will be returned to them once they meet the $190.00/cadet fundraising credit threshold. For those who do not meet the $190.00 credit threshold by the end of the training year, a tax receipt will also be issued when the bond is kept.If the fundraising threshold is met and no arrangements are made to collect the bond the SSC will issue a registered letter to the address on the Agreement to make alternative arrangements that are agreeable to the SSC for the bond's return. The bond value will be reduced by $10.00 for the cost of the registered letter. The bond will be forfeited if the parent or guardian makes no arrangements for its return within 30 days of receipt of the registered letter. What if my Cadet quits during the year?Cadets who officially resign from the Squadron and turn in all required materials and property before January 1 will see $95.00 of the bond returned to the parent/guardian. For cadets who leave on or after January 1st, no refund, in part or in whole, will be provided. Are financial accommodations available? If you require financial accommodation or would like to discuss the volunteer fees, email the SSC at [email protected] indicating you have special circumstances that you would like to discuss with the SSC Chair. A meeting to discuss your particular situation will be arranged. Please note that no one will be denied entry into the cadet program for financial reasons.Thank you for your support. With the support of parents like you, we can provide our cadets with the best experience and a valuable program.
