LXCL:We create space for the conversations San Diego County needs most—especially those that move us toward a more just and inclusive community. Through radio, digital media, and community presence, we amplify voices, share essential truths, and support action rooted in real needs.

KNSJ 89.1’s broadcast antenna was knocked offline when the tower we rented space on at Monument Peak collapsed in this winter storm due to severe ice and wind. This catastrophic loss threatens KNSJ’s over-the-air signal and creates urgent, potentially major expenses for engineering, equipment, and a possible new transmission site. Rebuilding may take a year or longer—if the tower is rebuilt at all. KNSJ was built by the community—and we need the community now more than ever! KNSJ was originally built through grassroots support, volunteer labor, and donor generosity — without a single grant or outside capital. This station exists because people believed San Diego needed independent, community-rooted media in a time of media monopoly, censorship, and attacks on journalists. That need is even greater today when democracy and voting access are threatened. We are launching this emergency campaign to fund immediate recovery planning and protect the future of independent community radio serving San Diego and the Imperial Valley. KNSJ remains available online at KNSJ.org, and we are continuing to expand digital access, including a mobile app currently in development. Please donate and share. The tower collapsed. Our mission did not.
