Airmid Institute is joining forces with director Angelina Lee for a live online or on-demand screening of Making a Mini-Forest, a feature documentary following the global movement to plant Miyawaki-inspired &quot;mini-forests&quot;. Narrated by Hannah Lewis, author of Mini-Forest Revolution, the film travels across France, Belgium, Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands, meeting 10 organizations restoring native biodiversity using the Miyawaki Method, Akira Miyawaki&#39;s 1970s reforestation approach that recreates a forest&#39;s full canopy-to-shrub structure. The film premiered at the G20 Global Land Initiative&#39;s Restoration Pavilion at the 2024 UN Convention to Combat Desertification&#39;s COP16 in Riyadh, and has since screened in nine additional countries. Angelina Lee is an environmental filmmaker and photographer. Her documentaries have screened at film festivals in Washington, D.C., Canada, New York, and the Grauman&#39;s TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. As part of the Barack Obama Scholars Program at Occidental College, she directed the documentary featurette The Big Raise about regenerative agriculture at a small farm in France. Most recently, she directed the feature-length documentary Making a Mini-Forest, which explores the emerging international movement to plant Miyawaki mini-forests around the globe to combat climate change and restore local biodiversity. This film premiered at the 2024 United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification&#39;s COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and has since been shown in nine more countries.
