Almost There A Mom Pups Rescue

LXCL:Almost There: A Mom + Pups Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to giving pregnant and nursing mamas dog, and puppies the time, space, and specialized care they need to thrive. Our mission goes beyond rescue. From lifesaving medical care and safe shelter to early socialization, enrichment, and our Puppy Preschool program, we focus on giving every dog in our care the strongest possible start. This work could not be possible without the support of our incredible community.

When the Unexpected Happens, We Say Yes. In animal rescue, you can plan for a lot of things. But you can&rsquo;t plan for everything.Over the past several weeks, Almost There Rescue has faced multiple unexpected medical emergencies; each requiring immediate, lifesaving veterinary care. And when one of our dogs needs us, waiting simply isn&rsquo;t an option. Jolene needed emergency surgery to remove her eye. Baby Ruth, a pregnant mama in our care, needed an emergency C-section when complications put her life at risk. And Alamo was born with a congenital vascular ring anomaly that made it incredibly difficult for him to eat and thrive. After extensive testing, specialty veterinary care, and surgery to correct the abnormality, Alamo began the long road to recovery, complete with medications, specialized nutrition, fluids, monitoring, and continued follow-up care. His sister Tempe is needing the same surgery here soon as well.Four dogs. Four very different emergencies. And thousands of dollars in unexpected veterinary expenses. We want to be candid about what that means for a rescue like ours. Emergency veterinary care is expensive. Specialty diagnostics are expensive. Surgery, hospitalization, medications, follow-up appointments, and recovery care add up quickly. When several emergencies happen close together, we have to pull significant funds from our operating budget to cover them, funds that are also needed to provide food, shelter, preventative medical care, staffing, supplies, and everything else it takes to care for the dogs who depend on us every day. And because ATR specializes in some of the most vulnerable populations; pregnant and nursing mamas and their puppies. The unexpected is part of rescue. Sometimes a mama needs an emergency C-section. Sometimes a puppy is born with a condition no one could have predicted. Sometimes a dog suddenly needs lifesaving surgery. We don&#39;t get to choose when these emergencies happen or how much they will cost.&nbsp;We only get to choose how we respond. And we choose to give them a chance. There Are Two Ways You Can Help: Make a one-time donation today.Your gift will help us recover from the significant medical expenses we have recently incurred caring for dogs like Jolene, Baby Ruth, and Alamo. Every donation, whether it&#39;s $10, $25, $50, $100, $500, or more, helps replenish the funds we have had to use for these unexpected emergencies and allows us to continue providing lifesaving care to the dogs already depending on us. Or help us prepare for the next emergency.We are also looking for individuals, businesses, and community partners who want to help us establish and grow a dedicated Almost There Rescue Emergency Medical Fund. Our goal is simple: when the next emergency happens, we want funding already available to respond. Rather than having to unexpectedly pull thousands of dollars from our operating funds every time a dog needs emergency surgery, hospitalization, specialty diagnostics, or lifesaving treatment, this dedicated fund would give us a financial safety net specifically for those moments we simply cannot predict. Because unfortunately, there will be another emergency. There will be another mama who needs us. Another puppy born with an unexpected medical condition. Another dog whose life depends on getting immediate care.
