Is Shakespeare timeless or troubling?&nbsp;Please join Am Shalom Congregation along with NCJWC-Simcoe County and PJ LIbrary for this 90 minute interactive event with scenes by professional actors that uses the arts to examine its role in addressing anti-Semitism.&nbsp;Designed as a welcoming entry point to Jewish learning, the program engages participants who may not yet feel connected to Jewish spaces by centering shared human values rather than religious doctrine.Using Shakespeare&rsquo;s The Merchant of Venice, professional actors will guide participants through live performance, close reading, and facilitated discussion. The program encourages critical thinking, ethical reflection, and open dialogue, aligning with Jewish educational traditions while remaining accessible to those with little or no prior Jewish background. Participants gain greater understanding of Jewish cultural and ethical perspectives, increased interfaith awareness, and tools for respectful conversations about antisemitism, identity, and belonging.Light refreshments will be served.

Room Rental (Occasional)

Join Am Shalom Congregation for High Holiday services as we welcome the new year together through prayer, reflection, and music. Our services are designed for all ages and levels of familiarity with Jewish tradition. One High Holiday ticket for Rosh Hashanah eve 8pm-9:30pm, Rosh Hashanah day 10am-1pm and kiddush, Kol Nidre 8pm-10pm, Yom Kippur day 10am-2pm, 4pm-6pm and break fast. Members tickets are free but still must be ordered, any guests of members and non-members tickets cost $200. Please use the form to let us know which services you&rsquo;ll attend. Your responses help us create a warm, organized, and truly inclusive experience for our community. Registration is also required through the ticket form for babysitting for ages 3-9 for Rosh Hashanah evening and Kol Nidre evening and for our children&#39;s programming for children aged 4-12 for Rosh Hashanah morning and Yom Kippur morning.&nbsp; Note: Rosh Hashanah Morning Service is followed by a community kiddush. Tashlich will be at Minet&#39;s Point at 3:30pm

High Holiday Services

PJ Library and Am Shalom Congregation invite children aged 2-12 and their families to join us in the sukkah for &ldquo;Pizza in the Hut,&rdquo; on Wednesday Sept 30th at 5:30pm.&nbsp; We will be making our own pizza and then, while it is baking, author <a fr-original-style="" href="https://siduraludwig.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Sidura Ludwig</a> will read from her newest children&#39;s book: Our Spectacular Sukkah.&nbsp; See you all there!

Dance for a Better Barrie! The Social Justice committee is pleased to announce a fundraising dance on October 17, 2026. The proceeds of the dance will go to Redwood Builds, an organization in Barrie that builds communities to fight Homelessness.&nbsp;There will be a cash bar, professional DJ and lots of other perks! 💃🕺
