Challenging Islamophobia &mdash; Know Your Rights, Know Your PowerA Free Community Workshop | Nottingham | Sunday 28th June 2026 What would you do if it happened to you?If you&#39;ve ever been treated differently at work because of your hijab, felt unsafe on the street, or simply didn&#39;t know what your rights were, this afternoon is for you. The Islamophobia Response Unit (IRU) is coming to Nottingham for a free, practical and empowering community workshop, designed specifically for Muslim families. In a warm, welcoming and safe space, you&#39;ll gain real knowledge, real skills, and access to real legal expertise, all completely free of charge. We are lawyers. And we are on your side. The IRU is not a generic advice service. We are a team of qualified lawyers and legal professionals with lived experience of Islamophobia. Every piece of advice we give is competent, confidential and professional, held to the same standards you would expect from any legal practice, but provided to you entirely free of charge. We have a 100% success rate in employment tribunal cases, with average settlements of &pound;43,234. We know the law. We know how to fight. And we know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of this kind of hatred.When you speak to the IRU, you are not just speaking to a helpline. You are speaking to lawyers who care. The afternoon begins with something every sister needs to know 🧕We are opening the workshop with a free Hijab-setting session, teaching practical techniques to wear your hijab so that it stays securely in place, even if someone attempts to pull it. In a climate where attacks on visibly Muslim women are rising, this is not just a skill. It is a form of protection. What you will learn:✅ How to recognise Islamophobia in everyday life &mdash; including at work, in education and in public spaces✅ How to report a hate crime &mdash; without having to go to a police station, and without having to involve the police at all if you choose not to✅ Your legal rights at work and in education under the Equality Act 2010 &mdash; including your rights around religious dress, prayer times, and discrimination✅ Where to access free, confidential and professional legal advice and advocacy &mdash; including how the IRU can support you directly On the day, every attendee will receive a free take-home reference card, a clear, practical guide covering your rights, how to report, and where to get help. Relaxing Retreat&nbsp; Enjoy the calm yoga and the relaxation of a gong session. Unwind among the trees and if you also want enjoy time in the hot tub (optional). End the session with tea and some delicious homemade cakes&nbsp;Itinerary:9.30 am - Arrival and welcome9.50 -11 am - Groups split into 2 and choose between hot tub or activity.11 to 12 pm - Groups swap to second activity or relaxation.12 - 12.30 pm - &nbsp;Gentle reflective conversation and group discussion led by Asma 12.30pm onwards ( Optional ) Group lunch at The Secret Caf&eacute;, the Old Lodge, Maythorne, Southwell. Or bring a picnic. Both options are available to you, we will all sit together.

🌖 Khadijah&rsquo;s Counsel 🍉 Join An-Nisa Network and Muallif for pre-iftar discourses on the 7th March, exploring Lady Khadijah&rsquo;s counsel to the Prophet ﷺ in the moments following the first revelation. 🥘 This event is with newcomers to Islam and those recommitting to the faith in mind, and all are welcome Muslim or otherwise. A sit down buffet and social will follow prayer. 🎙️ Guest teacher: Hafiz Awais Maqsood (Jamia Al-Karam, Cambridge Muslim College)
