Mission:The Ancient Burying Ground Association seeks to preserve and promote Hartford’s historic burial ground. We respectfully celebrate the relationships and diversity of the people interred here. We serve a 21st century audience through education, historic preservation, and community engagement.The Ancient Burying Ground Association works to preserve and restore Hartford’s oldest historic site and to educate the public about its role in the history of Colonial Connecticut. We aspire to:~ Memorialize these sacred grounds and the heritage of Hartford;~ Conserve, restore, enhance and maintain the Ancient Burying Ground;~ Educate and enlighten our supporters and offer resources to the general public; and~ Foster research including literary, cultural, historical and genealogical.Members receive discounts on programs, including lectures, Guided Tours and workshops. In 2026 the ABGA commemorates America 250 and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with special Guided Tours on diverse themes. The "Witchcraft Panic" programs on the 17th century witchcraft trials in Hartford are offered in the fall. Conservation and cleaning workshops take place in the spring and fall.
