Orpheus, a hopeful young musician, embarks on a perilous journey to the underworld to rescue his beloved Eurydice after she is lured there by the promise of security by the enigmatic ruler Hades. In the underworld, Eurydice faces the harsh realities of Hadestown, a factory where souls toil endlessly, forgotten by the world above. Meanwhile, the strained relationship between Hades and his wife Persephone mirrors the cycles of decay and growth, influencing the fates of those below and above. Hadestown is not only a narrative of individual journeys but also a commentary on societal issues such as power, wealth, and the resilience of human spirit in the face of adversity. With its emotive performances, rich lyrical storytelling, and dynamic score, Hadestown offers a profound theatrical experience that invites audiences to question what it means to make sacrifices for love and to dream of a better world.

Hadestown Teen Edition (grades 8-12)

From the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. &nbsp; Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Bring the whole family for a free fun and engaging performance of Peter and the Wolf performed by the Storytime Quintet at Apple Tree Arts on Sunday, April 12 at 3pm! This professional woodwind quintet specializes in performances for kids and families and will begin by introducing their instruments, showing how they work and letting kids see them up close. Then enjoy a lively, narrated performance of the classic story brought to life through music. The concert concludes with an interactive question-and-answer session, giving children a chance to meet the musicians and satisfy their curiosity&mdash;an unforgettable introduction to live music and storytelling. This performance was generously funded by the Grafton Cultural Council. The members of the Storytime Quintet are professional musicians with extensive training and performance experience. Each holds advanced degrees in music and performs with leading orchestras across New England, including the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Ballet, Springfield Symphony, Albany Symphony, Portland Symphony, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. Collectively, they bring decades of experience in performance and music education. Passionate about engaging young audiences, they created this program to introduce children to classical music in an accessible and entertaining way. Their expertise ensures a high-quality, interactive, and enriching experience for the Grafton community.

Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, a human boy named Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run in the deepest parts of the jungle. On their journey, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants, and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin&#39; musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. When Shere Khan returns, our heroes must rally their fellow animals into battle and restore peace throughout the jungle.

Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole &ldquo;being dead thing.&rdquo; Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium.

Have you ever wished you could play by ear? This workshop could change the way you listen to and play music.&nbsp; Join Jim D&#39;Ville on October 10th when his signature workshop comes to Apple Tree Arts! There is a chord associated with each of the seven notes of a major scale. When played in context, each chord evokes a certain emotional response from the listener. Learning these chordal relationships will open your ears to the chord progressions to millions of songs. This is the first step to learning to play by ear and could change the way you listen to and play music. Knowledge of finger positions for C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, is helpful.&nbsp; About Jim Jim D&#39;Ville is a music educator and facilitator who is on a mission to get ukulele players off the paper and playing music by ear. For nearly two decades Jim has taught his Play Ukulele By Ear workshops to tens of thousands of players in the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Jim has taught and performed at major ukulele events including the Ukulele Festival of Scotland, Kerrville Folk Festival, The NAMM Show, Melbourne (Australia) Ukulele Festival, West Coast Ukulele Retreat and many others.
